Press Record instead of Start. The front camera turns on and the script scrolls at the top of the screen, right under the lens. Frame the shot, then press the red Record button. Pause stops the scroll but keeps recording. Stop ends the take.
Turn the phone the way you want before you press Record: upright for reels, sideways for YouTube and MLS. After each take, Save video opens the share sheet. Pick Save Video for Photos, or AirDrop, Drive or Dropbox to send it to the editors. The file is a normal MP4.
Turn Mirror on for a beamsplitter rig. Tap the screen once to pause or start again, and drag up or down to move through the script. Pinch the text to make it bigger or smaller, and slide a finger sideways to change speed. Neither one pauses the script. If the phone is mounted upside down, press Rotate to turn the whole prompter 180°. Takes recorded that way are saved upright. Lower Brightness to around 60% so the glass throws less light back at the lens.
To read sideways on an iPhone, turn off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center, then turn the phone. The prompter resizes itself and keeps your place.
The screen stays awake while a script is running. In Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Opening it from the Home Screen hides the address bar, which matters most on an iPhone. Scripts are saved on the device that wrote them.
